Quick question, I’m building a new PC for gaming and streaming. Is 2TB overkill or nah? I was thinking of getting this one, but also considering the Samsung 980 Pro. Thoughts?
Bro, if you're streaming AND gaming, you'll fill that 2TB faster than you think. I made the mistake of getting a 1TB NVMe and it’s already full after a few months. Those game installs are no joke.
Yeah, 2TB should be solid for gaming + streaming. Corsair is a good value, but I’ve heard the Samsung 980 Pro runs cooler and has better endurance if you don’t mind spending a bit more. The Corsair’s endurance isn’t as high, but for most people it’s not a huge deal unless you’re constantly writing massive files.
I read somewhere the Corsair can get thermal throttling issues under heavy load. Is that true? How does it compare to the Samsung on that front?
Yup, exactly why I got the heatsink. If you're pushing it hard, it’ll get hot. The Samsung’s cooling is definitely better out of the box, so less chance of throttling.
FYI: "mini" is the nomenclature used by corsair to indicate the 2230 form factor
