i really liked alan wake 2, but this aint the “masterpiece” some reviewers made it out to be. story and atmosphere? 10/10. gameplay? more like 7/10. still, easily one of the most unique horror games i’ve played lately
@nopem76527 yeah, i feel the same, visually its jaw-dropping, the lighting effects and reflections on ps5 are wild, but some of alan’s segments felt like they dragged on forever, saga’s side carried the game for me tbh
@freefall saga’s sections had the perfect pacing imo, small-town mystery and creepy vibes were peak remedy. alan’s parts just got too “meta” for their own good 😂
@John7419 to me the weird meta stuff was the best part! felt like sam lake went full lynch mode and i was here for it, not everything landed, sure, but at least they took risks instead of playing it safe
the “we sing” section alone made the game worth it for me, thats the kind of wild creative swing most studios would never attempt, still humming that track weeks later 😂
@Macaw my biggest gripe was the combat, its not terrible, but man, it feels sluggish after playing the re4 remake, atmosphere carried it hard though, some of those woods sections had me on edge the whole time 😬
@HeronOfdeals yeah i respect that, its bold storytelling for sure, just wish the gameplay matched the ambition of the writing
@nopem76527 cant argue with that, i also think the dual narrative idea worked, but switching between alan and saga sometimes broke the flow would’ve been cool if you could play one story straight through first
@nopem76527 still, for all its flaws, its one of those games that sticks with you, i finished it weeks ago and i’m still thinking about certain scenes, not perfect, but unforgettable!
