Darkwood is still one of the most unsettling horror games I’ve ever played, mostly because of how much it relies on atmosphere instead of cheap jumpscares. The sound design alone makes you paranoid constantly.
@danielclark92 What impressed me the most was how tense the nights feel when you barricade yourself inside and just wait while hearing strange noises outside the house. Few horror games build suspense this naturally.
@yopi777 I also love the top-down perspective because it somehow makes everything feel even creepier. You never fully know what’s hiding in the darkness and your imagination fills the gaps perfectly.
@danielclark92 For three dollars this is honestly insane value. Even people who don’t usually play horror games should try it because it feels completely different from most mainstream horror titles.
