Thinking about grabbing one for my pc build, but not sure if I should go with this or look for something else.
I’ve had this ssd for about 6 months. It's solid for the price, fast enough for gaming and general use. However, if you're doing super heavy workloads, it can throttle after long sessions. It doesn’t have a heatsink, so keep that in mind if you're pushing it hard.
I was considering this one but ended up going with the Samsung 980 Pro. I read the p3 plus uses qlc nand, which can wear out faster if you’re constantly writing huge files. The 980 pro has tlc nand and better endurance, especially for content creation.
Can it handle gaming though? I don’t do much else
Yeah, for gaming, you're fine. I use it on my rig mostly for games like Cyberpunk and it loads pretty quick. Just be careful if you’re in a poorly ventilated case, it can get warm.
Samsung 980 Pro would still be my pick if you can spend a bit more. Way better durability and it's gen 4, so you get full speed benefits. The crucial’s speed can drop once the cache fills up, but if it’s mostly gaming, the difference is small.
I almost bought the Samsung 980 Pro, but my budget is tight this month. Does it really matter that much? I’m not editing videos or anything like that
I once tried to cheap out on storage and ended up with a drive that died on me in a year. Never again.
