I’ve been thinking about upgrading my psu. I’m running a 750W right now, but with the new gpu I just got, I feel like I’m cutting it close. Is 1000W overkill, though? I don’t want to buy more power than I need
Honestly, 1000W might be more than you need if you're not doing crazy overclocking or running a ton of hardware, but it's always nice to have some headroom. Plus, with the Gold rating, it’s more efficient, so you won’t be wasting power. I’d rather have more than enough than risk throttling my GPU when it’s under load.
Man, I remember when I tried to skimp on power supplies. I bought this cheapo off-brand one, and it literally sparked when I turned it on. Thought I was gonna burn the house down. Never again. How’s the build quality on the EVGA? Does it feel sturdy?
Oh man, I’ve been there with the cheap PSUs. This one is solid. It feels heavy, like it’s built to last. Plus, EVGA’s warranty is pretty solid, so even if something goes wrong, you’re covered for like 10 years.
Any issues fitting it into the case? My current one barely fits as is, and I’m not trying to play Tetris with my components lol
It fit into my mid-tower case just fine. The cables are flexible enough, and since it’s modular, you can just attach what you need instead of dealing with a bunch of extra cables clogging up your airflow.
