No DRAM, heats up. Affordable and great for bulk storage if you need it. Not ideal for external enclosures due to lack of DRAM. Good pricing.
Yes, large file writes slow down over time. Without dram, speeds can drop quickly, while with dram, it lasts longer. For instance, speeds might drop from 6400 to 3000 after 200GB with DRAM, but could drop faster without it.
