Should I Buy the Nintendo Switch (Neon Joy-Cons)? A Decision-Making Guide
Highlights and Advantages
- Portability: Play console-quality games anywhere, anytime.
- Versatile Gameplay: Enjoy games with friends in TV mode, tabletop mode, or handheld mode.
- Extensive Game Library: Access a vast catalog of exclusive and popular titles.
Similars
- Nintendo Switch OLED Model: Features a vibrant OLED screen with improved color and contrast. This offers a superior visual experience compared to the standard model.
- Nintendo Switch Lite: More compact and lightweight, ideal for handheld play. This is better suited for those prioritizing portability over versatility.
- Steam Deck: Offers a larger library of games through Steam. This provides a wider variety of titles than the Nintendo Switch, particularly PC games.
What to Know Before Buying
Before purchasing a Nintendo Switch, consider your storage needs (32GB is relatively small), the compatibility of the games you want to play, and whether you prefer playing on a TV or solely in handheld mode. Also note that some games may require additional accessories, like the Joy-Con charging grip or a Pro Controller.
Extra Tips
- Check online reviews and gameplay videos to see if the games you're interested in suit your preferences.
- Consider purchasing a microSD card to expand storage capacity, especially if you plan on downloading many games.
- Think about whether you'd prefer the Neon Joy-Con colors, or if another color scheme would be a better fit.
- Assess if you need additional accessories like a carrying case, screen protector, or extra Joy-Cons.
- Look into Nintendo's online subscription service, Nintendo Switch Online, for access to online multiplayer and classic NES/SNES games.
