Anyone here cook with a grill pan like this on the stove? I’ve been thinking about getting one but I’m not sure if it actually gives decent grill marks or if it’s more of a gimmick.
@Boombastic I use one pretty often, not this exact model though. You can definitely get grill marks if the pan gets hot enough. Cast iron usually does a good job with that.
@Miller680 That’s good to hear. I mostly want it for steaks and maybe burgers when I don’t feel like firing up the outdoor grill.
@Boombastic Yeah it works great for that. The only thing is it can get a little smoky if the heat is too high, especially with fatty cuts. But flavor-wise it’s pretty close to grilling.
@Miller680 Makes sense. I also like that cast iron holds heat well. My regular pans lose heat the second I put meat in them.
@Boombastic Exactly. That’s why people like cast iron so much. Once it’s hot it stays hot, which helps a lot with searing. Just be ready for the weight though, those pans are not light 😅
