I’m thinking about getting the Samsung B-Series HW-B650F 3.1CH soundbar. I mainly use my TV for movies and some gaming on weekends. Does the DTS Virtual:X actually make a noticeable difference, or is it just marketing?
@Boombastic I bought the HW-B650F about two months ago. Honestly, DTS Virtual:X surprised me. It doesn’t replace a true surround system with rear speakers, but it does create a wider and taller soundstage. For movies, especially action and sci-fi, it definitely feels more immersive than regular stereo sound.
@ClaireFisher That’s good to hear! How about the bass? I like deep bass but I don’t want it to be overwhelming or muddy. Is the subwoofer powerful enough?
@Boombastic The bass is strong but balanced. The wireless subwoofer delivers deep, punchy lows without drowning out dialogue. You can also adjust the bass level from the remote, which helps if you’re in an apartment and don’t want to disturb neighbors.
@ClaireFisher Nice! And what about dialogue clarity? Some soundbars I’ve tried make voices sound too low compared to background effects.
@Boombastic That was one of my concerns too. Since it’s a 3.1 channel system with a dedicated center channel, dialogue is very clear. Even during loud scenes, voices stay crisp. There’s also a “Voice Enhance” feature that boosts speech if needed.
@ClaireFisher Awesome. Last question: is Bluetooth stable? I’d like to use it to stream music from my phone sometimes.
@Boombastic Yes, Bluetooth connection has been solid for me. Pairing was quick, and I haven’t experienced dropouts. For music, it sounds clean and fills my living room easily. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it if you want better sound without setting up a full surround system.
@ClaireFisher Ooh ok, thank you so much!
@Boombastic 😉
